Local, and it shows in the work

I'm Gordon. I've been cutting trees and looking after gardens around Troon for over twenty years, so I know the coastal wind, the ground in Barassie and Loans, and roughly when the leylandii along your fence line is going to need taking down a foot.

Most of my work is regular garden maintenance and one-off tree jobs for people nearby. Storm damage gets dealt with quickly. Whatever the job, the place gets swept up before I leave.

What I do

One-off tree work, or someone to keep on top of the lawn and hedges through the season. Both are fine.

Gordon responded very quickly to my initial enquiry to cut back and top some very large trees. He provided a competitive quote and carried out the work to an excellent standard. Friendly, easy to work with and I would highly recommend him.

We're a company based in Shropshire and Gordon didn't know us — all our communication was emails, phone calls and photos. Maple Tree completed the work as promised to a high standard, using his own initiative and talking with the customer. A rare find.

Questions I get asked

How much does tree removal cost?

It depends on the size of the tree, what's underneath it, and how easy it is to get the waste out. I'd rather look at it — send a photo on WhatsApp with your postcode and I'll give you a price.

A tree has come down in my garden — can you come out?

Yes. Call me rather than messaging if it's blocking access or resting on a building or wires. Keep clear of it in the meantime, and if power lines are involved call the network operator first on 105.

What areas do you cover?

Troon, Barassie, Loans, Prestwick, Ayr, Dundonald and the surrounding Ayrshire towns. Further afield is usually possible for bigger jobs.

Are you qualified?

Yes — NPTC and City & Guilds qualified for tree work, and PA1 and PA6 certified for spraying. Happy to show the paperwork.

How often should the lawn be cut?

Through spring and summer, every one to two weeks keeps it looking right. It slows down in autumn and mostly stops over winter. Most regulars are on a fortnightly cut.

Do you take the waste away?

Yes, that's included unless we agree otherwise. Branches, clippings and green waste all go with me and the site gets swept.

Do you give free quotes?

Always, and there's no obligation. Quotes usually come back within a week — quicker for urgent tree work.
